Minutes of Meeting on Wednesday, September 7, 2011
Senior Center Conference Room, 7:00 p.m.

Chair Janet Reinhart called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
ANR #11-03 – Hazen Estate, 65, 85 & 95 Pier Rd.
Chester Lay of Slade Associates presented ANR #11-01 for 65, 85 and 95 Pier Road (Map 23, Parcels 214, 214.1 and 214.2) on behalf of the estate of Eleanor B. Hazen. In 2008 the plan had been endorsed by the Planning Board, but the plan needed to be resubmitted to correct the registration of one lot that was sold using a different land plan.
Pickard moved to endorse the plan for 65, 85 and 95 Pier Road as ANR #11-03. Kahn seconded, and the motion carried 5-0.
Minutes of 8/10/11
Gray moved to approve the minutes of August 10, 2011. Kahn seconded, and the motion carried 5-0.
Local Comprehensive Plan
Janet Reinhart said members should make notes on their copies of the Local Comprehensive Plan for discussion at another meeting. There was an immediate discussion of parking issues in town. Planning Board had a suggestion to use the sand pit for special event parking with shuttle service into town.
Wind Turbine Technology
Olga Kahn said she was still collecting information on bylaws and new technology for wind turbines. The Assembly of Delegates is working on simplification of bylaws, she said. She will prepare more materials for the next meeting.
House Size/Lot Coverage
Reinhart presented a chart depicting several approaches to house size/lot coverage2 that Planning Board had considered. Members will fill in the final column with new suggestions.
“Landing Strip” Update
Alfred Pickard reported on his discussion with the Town Administrator concerning the “Landing Strip.” This is an issue on the Local Comprehensive Plan that needs to be addressed by Planning Board.
Site Visit Planning for Town-Owned Land
There will be a site visit scheduled for the parcels of Town-owned land to be sold. Planning Board will be considering the other boards’ recommendations on Town-owned lots that are to be listed for disposition on the Warrant for Fall Town Meeting. Pickard suggested inviting Housing to come to the Planning Board meeting on September 21 to discuss one of the lots.
Work Session Discussion
Reinhart suggested holding work sessions at alternate meetings to handle some of the priority issues. She’d like to invite other boards to attend some of the sessions. Board members gave their thoughts on continuing work on house/lot size. There was a consensus to keep working on it, but to start anew and keep it simple. The Board agreed to schedule work sessions, but after they have discussed which topics should be included.
Other Business
The Board expressed their appreciation to Rex Peterson for his service to the Planning Board as Town Planner and wished him well in his new position as Town Administrator of Truro.
Agenda for Next Meeting
Agenda set for the September 21, 2011 meeting includes: Recommendations for Town-Owned Property, House/Lot Size, Landing Strip, Local Comprehensive Plan.

Gray moved to adjourn. Reinhart seconded, and the motion carried 5-0. The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
